Where Have You Gone, Tullio and Marisa Vivaldi?
In 1958, Harry Truman, his wife Bess, and their friends Sam and Dorothy Rosenman went on a Mediterranean cruise. In Genoa, Italy, the couples visited Torre Piacentini, the tallest building in western Europe at the time.
It was there that Harry accidentally crashed the wedding of Marisa Maffei and Tullio Vivaldi. The bride and groom and their guests were delighted, of course, and Harry gladly posed for a picture with the bride.
I would love to find Marisa and Tullio. How did their lives turn out? They were married in the midst of the Italian economic miracle, a time of great prosperity in the country. What were their jobs? Did they have any children?
I have scoured public records, online genealogical sites, and old newspapers, but so far I have not been able to locate Marisa Maffei and Tullio Vivaldi, their descendants, or anyone who attended their wedding. If you have any suggestions for how I might find them, please get in touch. And if you are so inclined, please share this article on your social media accounts.
